NEOMED has partnered with the Portage County Health District, Portage County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management and Ohio National Guard to provide free COVID-19 testing this week.
Here’s what the NEOMED community needs to know.
WHEN WILL TESTING TAKE PLACE?
Testing will take place on campus this week during the following days and times:
- Tuesday, July 21, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Thursday, July 23, 1 – 6 p.m.
- Saturday, July 25, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
WHERE WILL TESTING TAKE PLACE?
Testing will take place in Parking Lot B (south side of campus) and be conducted as a drive-up testing site.
To access testing stations, you must enter the campus from Tallmadge Rd. and onto Lorretta Drive.
A single file line will be formed upon entering and then split into two lines at the test area.
Upon taking test, you must exit onto Rt. 44.
HOW WILL THIS IMPACT PARKING AND TRAFFIC ON CAMPUS?
With individuals entering through Loretta Drive and exiting from the main campus entrance/exit on testing days, the NEOMED community is encouraged to enter and exit campus using the Village Way. This is the entrance/exit located on the most north side of campus across from Giant Eagle.
Parking Lot B will be closed for the entire week, even when testing is not being conducted. Members of the NEOMED community should park in Lot A or the NEW Center Visitor Lots.
The NEOMED Police Department will be conducting traffic control during testing.
IS THERE A FEE FOR GETTING TESTED?
No. Thanks to our collaboration with the Portage County Health District, Portage County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management and the Ohio National Guard, testing is free.
CAN ANYONE BE TESTED?
Anyone from any community, including NEOMED faculty, staff and students ― with or without symptoms ― may be tested.
Individuals of any age may be tested but those under 18 will need the signed consent of a parent or guardian.
DO INDIVIDUALS NEED A REFERRAL FROM THEIR HEALTH CARE PROVIDER?
No health care referral is needed.
ARE THERE TESTING APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE?
No. Testing is conducted in the order of vehicles as they drive up in test station lines. Participants must stay in vehicles. No walk-ins allowed.
HOW LONG CAN AN INDIVIDUAL EXPECT TO WAIT FOR TESTING?
Wait times may vary depending on the number of cars (and individuals within them) that are in the test station lines. Please be patient and prepared, in the event you encounter a longer waiting period.
WHO WILL BE ADMINISTERING TESTS?
Members of the Ohio National Guard will be administering tests. The Portage County Health District, Portage County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management and others, may be helping with paper work and other logistics.
HOW MANY TESTS WILL BE ADMINISTERED?
There will be enough supplies to test up to 1,000 individuals each day.
